After a long walk through the dense rainforest of Andasibe, Madagascar, I hear calls that sound almost like whales. My guide explains that it is the Indri Indri, announcing our presence and marking its territory.
Hidden in the thick foliage, I stumble upon this one by pure chance, and lot of patience, resting quietly on a piece of fallen trunk. The Indri Indri, the largest lemur in the world, is a rare sight – a symbol of Madagascar’s unique and fragile biodiversity.
For me, its call will forever resonate alongside that of the whales, as part of a symphony worth preserving – a reminder of the most beautiful gifts nature has to offer.
